Virgin Money Launches with World’s First 270˚ Projection

Last night (January 10th) Richard Branson launched Virgin Money in a style befitting the audacious billionaire and his cross-industry Virgin brand with a first of its kind outdoor visual presentation in Central London. At 5.15pm, the world’s first 270˚ projection was introduced by Branson and screened upon the entire outside walls of Senate House.

The fully immersive 3D projection, created by BMB neon, presented a stunning visual history of the Virgin brand. Said Trevor Beattie, cofounder of BMB: “It’s not every day you help launch a high street bank. And this being Virgin, we wanted to do it in as spectacular and memorable a fashion as possible.” The launch was definitely a treat to see. Time will tell if Virgin’s move to banking will be as spectacular and memorable.

To “make banking better” Branson reckons the industry needs some shaking up. At the end of last year, Virgin bought Northern Rock with the plan of turning its 75 branches into Virgin Money branches in 2012. Virgin’s reputation alone should certainly have all the other high street banks taking notice. And if Virgin Money can meet its aim to offer a “wide range of great value financial products that are easy to understand and sort out” and “give customer a better deal” then Virgin Money should prove as successful as other Virgin endeavours.
