Great Little Scandi Cafe – Cooper & Wolf – Opens on Chatsworth Road E5

DSC01030

Kemey and I literally stumbled upon this place yesterday en route to another newly opened eatery on Chatsworth Road. However, Cooper & Wolf looked so inviting, we ditched our plans and popped in this friendly Scandinavian coffee shop. I’m so glad we did.

Cooper & Wolf is only about a week old but already seems to have a strong following of loyal locals. They offer a delectable assortment of Nordic dishes such as Norwegian smoked salmon from Hansen & Lydersen (the best I’ve ever had!), home made Swedish meatballs and pickled herring along with plenty of healthy vegetarian options. They serve Caravan coffee too.

Prices seem reasonable. Ample mains cost between £6 and £10. My value-for-money sensibility was given a delicious pat on the back for ordering the pickled herring potato gratin with boiled egg, Kalles Kaviar and lots of fresh salad (£9.50). Hot drinks cost around two quid or less.

The vibe is eclectic and homespun, Scandi with a touch of Clapton edge. And the people behind the counter came across as incredibly appreciative of our patronage, very accommodating and especially cool managing a full house after only being open a short time.

Yes, I know. Cooper & Wolf sounds fantastic. Don’t rush down there immediately though! They’re closed on Mondays (for the time being). It might be a few days before for they get the WiFi sorted as well. But once they do, I’ll be the moustachioed dude with American accent tapping away on his Macbook.

Cooper & Wolf is located at 145 Chatsworth Road, E5 0LA. Visit them online at cooperandwolf.co.uk and on Facebook.
