It’s back and if anything like in the past few years promises to be an absolute hoot. Upscale Thai restaurant, Mango Tree, will host its annual Mr and Miss Mango Tree UK Ladyboy competition this Sunday. The theme this year? Sport and the City.

From 6.30pm till late, guests can enjoy a night of glammed up fun as contestants strut their stuff in three rounds before a panel of VIP and celebrity judges. Ladyboy entrants will compete for the Miss Mango Tree UK 2012 crown, as well as the prizes of £500 cash (plus a £100 meal at Mango Tree) for the winner; £300 for the runner up; and £200 for third place. Winners from the last four years have gone on to compete in Thailand at the Miss International Queen contest. Alongside the he-shes, male contenders will compete for the same cash prizes and the title of Mr Mango Tree UK 2012.

Hosting this year’s event is Eastenders and Coronation Street actress, Michelle Collins. There’ll be a variety of cabaret performances and live deejaying “all set against a backdrop of Olympic-themed decorations” too along with tropical cocktails and Thai canapés available throughout the night.

Mango Tree is located at 46 Grosvenor Place, SW1X 7EQ. Doors open at 6.30pm. The competition kicks off at 7.30 and lasts till midnight. Tickets cost £17 in advance or £20 at the door. To book ahead (or sign up to compete) call the restaurant at 02078231888. Visit mangotree.org.uk for more details.
