A tale of tasty triumph in the face of adversity is uncorked with my review of this rosé made with a rosy attitude toward life.

Okay, so it’s been a few months since my last WOTM write up. What can I say? I’ve been busy. Too busy to drink good wine? Of course not – just too slammed working on other stuff to blog about any of the commendable wines I’ve been sipping. Sorry. Anyway, I have a bit of time on my hands today, as well as a glass of a rather delicious quaff actually in hand. So, without further ado, here’s my Wine of the Season review of the very enjoyable Apres Le Pluie, Rosé, 2013 Domaine Jones, Languedoc, France.

Apres Le Pluie is an especially easy-to-drink rosé selected by Katie Jones, the award-winning winemaker behind the Domaine Jones label. It goes down remarkable well when chilled, and I can’t think of anybody who’d turn a nose up to its fresh bouquet and green apple flavour. In addition to its great taste, this wine’s got a juicy story going for it too.

Due to a senseless act of vandalism earlier this year, Katie lost all of her 2012 white wine incurred a huge financial loss. But, with a sunny “apres la pluie, le beau temps” approach toward business, she teamed up with The House Wine to collaborate on a “recovery” range.

From The House Wine blog:

The story of the mindless vandalism that dealt Katie Jones of Domaine Jones a real blow with the loss of her entire production of white wine has made the national press. It’s heartbreaking to lose something that you have put so much work into and something that is irreplaceable. Domaine Jones is a real one woman operation so every bottle of wine really counts and the financial ramifications of losing thousands of bottles is huge.

The pale, 100% Grenache 2013 Apres Le Pluie is a superb summer quencher and available from thehousewine.co.uk at £9.50 per bottle.
