Swish digs at the Park Plaza, host of the UK Blog Awards ceremony
This Friday night the winners of the 2016 UK Blog Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony that promises to be an especially swish affair.
Shortlisted for Best Travel Blog and Best Food and Drink Blog (thanks to all who voted to put tikichris over the edge in both categories), I’m so bummed that I won’t be able to attend. True to form though, I’ll be away. And yep, I’ll be travelling somewhere tasty – Appleton Estate rum distillery in Jamaica (don’t hate) – with the idea of keeping notes and taking pics to share the very best of the experience in a series of blog posts.
Obviously, I’m looking forward to my time in Jamaica. I’ve never been, I’m a huge fan of Appleton, and I feel certain I’ll return with a good story. Still, I wish the awards ceremony and my trip didn’t conflict with each other. I would have loved the chance to rub elbows with the UK bloggerati and size up the competition. I’m not all that sure I have any real chance of winning either category, but I’m hopeful. Besides, the party sounds like its going to be one heck of soirée.
Dress code is “to impress.” Included with a ticket to the event are canapés and more morsels, three alcoholic drinks, a goodie bag, and – I suppose most importantly – the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s best bloggers and network with them as well as various PRs and the awards sponsors in the swank digs of the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel.
Good luck to all the finalists on Friday night! I hope everyone has a blast, and I’m sorry I won’t be able to join you.
