Brunch at Daisy Green

Brunch at Daisy Green? It’s among London’s tastiest I reckon or at least that’s how I recollect my yummy time dining there.

A total treat (and a treat I’ve craved more than once to eat again since my visit a couple of weeks ago) was the Fancy Bacon Roll. What makes this bad mama jama such a fancy feast? Well, the roll’s a paratha roti that’s topped with a heap of back bacon and two free-range poached eggs with a crust of crispy onions smothered in The Ribman’s Holy Fuck Hollandaise and fresh chillies (£12, 14.50 with avocado – I recommend it with the avo).

Similarly scrumptious is the Avocado on Charcoal (organic cold fermented activated charcoal sourdough with avocado, labne, lime and lemon dukkah, £7 or £9 with poached egg). Need further evidence of more noteworthy nosh? Howzabout the coconut bread French toast with thick Greek yoghurt, fresh and freeze dried berries, griddle mango, shaved coconut, bee pollen and Maple syrup (£9.80)?

Thumbs up for the iced coffee I had too! You can booze it up when you go if you want more than quality coffee when brunching.

‘Shabby chic with a side of wacky’ might aptly describe the Daisy Green décor and its inside/outside nooks in and around a “secret garden” with lowbrow and vibrant (and subtly subversive) work on display by artist Shuby. Fun, and comfy too.

Not just the new tip-of-my-tongue response when asked where to do brunch but Daisy’s now my ticket for where to crash when running around London in need of a break or a modest refueling. The restaurant’s a mellow (though far from neglected) spot for OOO working and casual midweek meet ups.

Service during my visit was smiley and fast. I could keep raving, but I think you get the point.

Daisy Green is located at 20 Seymour Street, W1H 7HX, with five other sister sites of varying size across town. Find out more at daisygreenfood.com.
