Jim Beam and Covent Garden restaurant, Joe’s Southern Table & Bar, have teamed up to create a Tastes of Kentucky menu pairing Jim Bourbon cocktails with classic American comfort food favourites.
I dropped by Joe’s over the weekend for my own taste of this Tastes of menu. I enjoyed best the Tabasco and Jim Beam Honey Sauce wings (£6/£11) paired with a Honey and Vanilla Bourbon Milk Punch (£8) as well as Joe’s BBQ Beef Burger with Jim Beam Red Stag-Glazed Bacon (£13.95) paired with a Black Cherry Old Fashioned (£8).
The Black Cherry Old Fashioned was, by far, my preferred tipple of the outing though all cocktails sampled were tasty.
The visit was an opportunity to try a few items from the regular menu too. Joe’s does a mean mac ‘n cheese, decent slaw, and commendably Southern collards. Most sides are priced around £3. The pecan pie with Jim Beam honey cream (£5) is a downhome treat.
Service was swift and attentive during my dinner.
