Across Duke Street from Selfridges, Over Easy is a stylish café for brunchy endeavours and caffeinated pit stops.
The few months old eatery was an easy option for popping in to have a quick (if substantial) bite and coffee catch up with a friend recently.
During our late morning midweek visit, I enjoyed a plateful of truffled French toast (homemade brioche, truffle custard, kale, mushrooms, fried egg and black pudding, £8.5). My brunch buddy had the Dutch Baby Pancake – the savoury version with horseradish puffed pancake with Argyll smoked salmon, lemon crème fraiche and fennel (£8). There’s a sweet Dutch Baby too made with vanilla puffed pancake, poached pear, Earl Grey syrup, almonds and chocolate, (£7.50).
Made with beans from Allpress in East London, my Americano was good and properly pulled. A freshly pressed green juice provided a pert and healthy boost.
Like I said, we were there early on a early on a weekday. So there was nothing boozy about the meal. But under different circumstances, a Spicy Bloody Mary (from the café’s short list of cocktails) might have gone down a treat with my French toast.
Friendly and fast service, a clean white tile minimalist interior and a convenient location make Over Easy a smart choice for a variety of noshing scenarios.
