Best of 2016

Best of 2016

The year is now coming to a close. How was it for you? My mind’s still reeling trying to figure out that question for myself. To say the least, 2016 was intense, with plenty of ups and downs. Allow me a chance to look at some of the ups in a little more detail and to celebrate the year by highlighting some of my favourite food, drink and travel experiences.

What’s now become an annual December occurrence for this blog, I’m taking a moment to reflect on some of the things that made 2016 most delicious and fun. For the most part, I lived rather humbly during most of these past 12 months. But, there were certainly times of adventure, luxury, indulgence and wonder that exceeded my expectations and caused me to reexamine my notions of excellence. Over the next week or so, I’ll focus on those memorable moments through a Best of 2016 series of posts.

As in years past, I initially had been compiling all sorts of lists for best this and best that. I’ve whittled those lists down to seven Best of 2016 categories. They are as follows:

  • Restaurants (Excluding London);
  • London Restaurants;
  • Bars (Excluding London);
  • London Bars and Pubs;
  • London Cheap Eats;
  • London Pop-Ups, Supper Clubs, Street Food, etc; and
  • Hotels and Resorts.

Please keep in mind that these ‘best of’ lists merely reflect how I chose to spend my time during the year and are comprised of well established and brand new venues as well as businesses that are local to me or somehow related to where work and play took me. Items in lists appear in alphabetic order, not ranked.

I’ll get started sharing these lists with you soon. Until then please accept my sincere thanks for reading my blog in 2016.
