Tabun Kitchen, Soho

Tabun Kitchen serves “Jerusalem home cooking” from a comfortable Soho nook on Berwick Street. I had a satisfying lunch there recently and thought I’d pass the word on about it.

For lunch I had the akkawi cheese and za’atar manaeesh – a sort of “Palestinian pizza” topped with olives, sundried tomatoes and nigella seeds and baked in the tabun clay oven. Very yummy and very Med, it was an ideal midday meal served hot and fast.

Normally, the manaeesh would have set me back £8.50, but because I ordered it through the MealPal app, it was only £4.79 and ready to go in the oven upon my arrival.

Service was really friendly and polite. The dining area is rather plush and attractive. There’s a lot more to the menu than what I had as well, including loads of mezze and grilled meats.

I’ll definitely keep Tabun Kitchen in mind for future Soho outings (MealPal discount or not).

MealPal is a pre-order lunch app that’s just launched in London. Through MealPal, you can reserve quick pickup lunches for less than £5 per meal at a time and place convenient for you. But before you get all excited about that, check out this opportunity to give the app a spin with a week’s worth of free lunches and no obligation to continue after that.
