New Cocktails at Great Northern Hotel

A ‘yeah sure’ turned into an ‘oh wow’ just a few sips into an accepted invitation to sample a range of new signature cocktails at Great Northern Hotel’s GNH Bar and Snug Bar.

Head Bartender Harry Nikolaou’s brilliant creations beguiled as much as they refreshed, enticing as they intoxicated.

My fave was by far was the Ahau Chamehez. Featuring El Jimador Blanco with chilli, lime guacamole (yes guacamole), coriander, olive bitters and soda, the drink was surprisingly light and especially thirst quenching. Served with a tortilla chip for garnish, it was a savoury libation as well. I’d have had another (and another) if I’d not been trying out a round of cocktails.

Other highlights included a rather girly but undeniably delicious Breakfast at Tiffany’s made with Amaretto Disaronno, lemon curd, ginger, cinnamon, honey and raspberries as well as the Deep in the Sea vodka-based cocktail with Russian Standard, dill, salmon (!!!), dry vermouth, and celery bitters. A sort of liquid gravlax, it intriguing with rich flavour without being unctuous or ‘fishy’ at all.

These and the rest of the new signature drinks are priced at £12 each.

The Great Northern Hotel is located at King’s Cross Station, Pancras Road, N1C 4TB. The GNH Bar is on the ground floor and the Snug Bar is upstairs near the entrance to Plum & Spilt Milk restaurant. Find out more at gnhlondon.com.
