“Meet the Makers” at The Stoke House, Nova Victoria

Nova Victoria’s modern British carvery, The Stoke House, is to launch a new series of “Meet the Makers” dining events to showcase its menu of locally sourced products and highlight the inspiration behind Chef Pete Denhart’s creations.

I tagged along to a preview and was impressed with the provenance of the food I tried.

Highlight of the visit for me was a juicy main course serving of roast rump of beef with watercress and grated horseradish (from Cornish butchers Phillip Warren and cooked on a fire fueled by high quality Oxford Charcoal coals). I loved the Paxton & Whitfield cheeseboard at the end as well, especially the Perl Las blue cheese from Wales.

First up in the Makers series is an event on Wednesday 6 September with Phillip Warren, Oxford Charcoal, and Kicking Horse Brewery teaming up with the restaurant to offer guests a three-course meal pairPed with beers and ciders. Tickets cost £35 and can be booked online.

Subsequent dinners after that will give diners the chance to “try something a little less meaty” with a menu of cured and smoked fish from Secret Smokehouse in collaboration with fruit and veg growers Mash Purveyors; and to “be served by the Queen’s official cheesemonger” with official supplier of cheese to the Queen, Paxton & Whitfield, setting the theme for the menu.

The Stoke House is located within Nova Victoria at 81 Buckingham Palace Road, SW1W 0AJ. To book tickets for Meet the Makers and find out more go to thestokehouse.com.
