The Dayrooms Café WC1

P1080676

The Dayrooms Café has opened a second outlet, this one on Theobald’s Road.

I really enjoyed my visit to the original Notting Hill Dayrooms several weeks back and was glad to learn The Aussie inspired all day café has come at least a little farther east toward my side of town.

The new WC1 café offers a similar menu of breakfast and lunch items with pastries too as well as. During my recent visit, I liked best the prawn tostada (tiger prawns, avocado emulsion and pickled radish, £4.50) and the banana bread with espresso butter (£3) during my visit. I was pleased to see the coffee is still supplied by Ozone Coffee Roasters (and that’s a good thing indeed) and is still pulled with proper antipodean pride.

But the digs do differ. Much of what I loved about Notting Hill Dayrooms was its comfy bank seating, big windows and inside/outside feel. The new café is teensy and not so hang-out-ible. Nonetheless, when in need for coffee catch ups, tasty casual nosh and tasty to-go treat, keep this place in mind. I will.

The Dayrooms Cafe WC1 is located at 10 Theobald’s Road, WC1X 8PN, with a sister location in Notting Hill. Find out more at thedayroomscafe.com.
