What to Do on Holiday In Indianapolis, Indiana

Going someplace new and exciting on holiday is always a good time. Instead of staying local, why not try someplace far away? When you’re in a new place, there’s always something to do. You are in a mysterious place that you know nothing about, and part of the fun is that it’s different to what you experience back home. In this case, why not fly to America, and in particular, Indiana?

Known as the crossroads of America (due to its six interstate highway crossings), the capital city Indianapolis has almost as many monuments and memorials as Washington D.C. This article will provide you with some sightseeing, food and fun tips on what you can do when you visit Indiana for the first time.

Sightseeing

Indianapolis is best known for its annual car race or ‘Indianapolis 500.’ America’s celebrated car races are annually held at the speedway in Indianapolis. Still, should you visit the city, there are various other must-see tourist attractions. Included as part of the must-see attractions are, of course, the city’s museums. The notable two are the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Both are an afternoon well spent that is both fun and educational. There is even the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art. There is no shortage of museums in this city! Other must-see attractions include the Indiana World War Memorial, State Capitol Building, or a visit to the Indianapolis Zoo. Walk around Indianapolis and talk to some locals. Figure out what locals like to do on the weekend, as they’re sure always to send you in the direction of a few treasures.

Food

Eating good food can help brighten anyone’s day, especially while on a trip. Every place you visit has its own food that is unique to that area or location. The same can be said of Indianapolis and its local food options. There are many different food options from cafes, fancy restaurants and bars. As a tourist, pick and choose where to eat out based on personal preference and your budget. Ask the restaurant you have chosen what their special dish is, and choose it as your meal. Who knows, it may even become a new favourite place to eat while you’re there. You’ll have to fly out to Indianapolis again in the future just to get a taste of that famous breaded pork tenderloin sandwich.

Games

Whether you’re in Indiana for work or leisure with friends or family, it is worth visiting the Indy Escape Room. You have the option for different escape room themes, whether it’s a museum heist, mystery mansion, island escape or others. As you’re playing, you must follow the clues, solve the puzzles and escape the room in 60 minutes to win! It’s the perfect way to spend a fun afternoon in Indianapolis that also gives your brain a mental boost due to the challenge.

Choosing to holiday in Indianapolis, Indiana is a great way to fit in some tourist sightseeing attractions, eat great food and enjoy an hour of the famous escape room. Every new travel destination has its own charm, its part of the fun of travelling and going to see new places. Talk to locals for hidden gems and simply walk around to explore the area. Everything will be new and exciting when visiting a new place.
