Sheepa Miah previews Korean music showcase coming to Rich Mix in May.

K-Music Showcase 2018 is coming to London in May, brought to you by The Korean Cultural Centre UK, Korea Creative Content Agency and Rich Mix.

This year’s showcase will be focusing on three female fronted bands. From traditional to post-modern rock, they will all perform their own unique sounds and styles.

Date: Thursday 10th May

The bands to look out for include the following:

3rd Line Butterfly

A legendary band from the Korean independent underground music scene, which debuted in the year 2000. Their 4th album ‘Dreamtalk’ won numerous awards at the Korean Music Awards and the Discovery of the Year Award at Gaon Chart Music Awards in 2013. Their most recent album ‘Divided by Zero’ has received high praise from the Korean indie music scene.

Gonne Choi

Singer-songwriter Gonne Choi debuted in October 2010 with her first EP, ‘36.5°C.’ Her unique voice and guitar melodies gained awareness on a popular Korean TV show in the following year. Her first album, ‘I WAS, I AM, I WILL,’ was nominated for numerous awards at the 2015 Korean Music awards. She has also performed at major music festivals in Ko­rea and the UK including Glastonbury Festival and Seoul Jazz Festival.

Billy Carter

Busking in London, they started out as an acoustic project led by vocalist Jiwon Kim and guitarist Jina Kim, before Drummer Hyunjoon Lee joined them in 2014. They explored an array of genres; from the blues to rockabilly and country. Billy Carter was nominated for three 2015 Korean Music Awards for their untitled EP called ‘The Red’. Their first full length album, ‘Here I Am’ was also nominated at the Korean Music Awards in 2016.
