SeasonaliTea at The Langham London

P1170860

With the launch of The Langham London’s SeasonaliTea, Executive Pastry Chef Andrew Gravett presents a fresh approach to the afternoon tea.

Gravett’s focus is to use exceptional seasonal ingredients, thus involving more regular changes to the menu (don’t worry – there are still finger sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and jam) and to reduce use of refined sugars and fat, without compromising on flavour or texture of the cakes.

Kemey and I dropped by earlier in the summer for a taste of the new offer. We indulged in the High Tea. It was the same as the regular tea service with an extra ‘main’ course included. It was a tasty extra too! I loved my serving of ricotta, Bermondsey honey, pickled walnut and lambs lettuce. And Kemey very much enjoyed her summer pea hummus with mini za’tar bread.

All else was a lovely as we recalled from previous visits to The Langham. Cackleberry farm egg with marinated artichoke and summer truffle sandwiches were a savoury delight while The Peach Melo (fresh peach with verbena meringue) exploded with some of my favourite summery flavours. But there was so much more (quality and quantity) for our indulgence during our seating. Of course, when you go there may a new mix of more seasonally fresh treats to try.

Teas were lovely. I kept with the 150th Anniversary Langham Blend throughout my meal. Kemey sipped around a variety from the extensive tea menu. A glass each of Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut NV added a crisp, floral air to the occasion.

Service was exceptionally gracious.

Afternoon Tea is £55 per person, while High Tea is £62 (additional charges apply for Champagne).

The Langham London is located at 1C Portland Place, Regent Street, W1B 1JA. Find out more at london.langhamhotels.co.uk.
