Good Stuff #77

Good stuff and lots of it!

Here’s the low down on some fine things to see, sip, savour and more – all of which I’ve recently come across and thought were worth sharing with you. Enjoy.

Odysea Mini Feta Cheese Portions

Greek food producer, Odysea, recently launched the UK’s first snacking feta – handy portions of made with milk from sheep and goats milk from the Thessaly Mountains of central Greece. The Mini Feta Cheese Portions are an ideal size for snacks on the go. They’re tasty too! A pack of five individually wrapped 30g servings costs £2.65 at odysea.com. The packs are available at Waitrose too.

Doctor Seaweed’s Weed & Wonderful Intense Smoked Seaweed Oil

Doctor Seaweed’s Weed & Wonderful Intense Smoked Seaweed Oil is an organic rapeseed oil infused with the flavour of oak smoked seaweed. Boy! That’s a mouthful – as is the flavour that a teensy drop of this tasty product can add to fish, veggies, dips and sauces. I used a few drops on some chicken wings recently for very satisfying results. A 50ml bottle with pipette dropper goes for £8.99 at seaweedandco.com.

Winebuyers

Winebuyers is a new online club connecting wine buyers directly with vineyards, producers, and merchants. The club features a diverse range of 30,000 wines from 38 countries. My introduction to Winebuyers presented an opportunity to sample a bottle of red from Armenia: Koor Red 2015 (Vayots Dzor Highlands, £15.75) which turned out to be a dark horse hit at a recent BBQ I hosted.

Maple from Canada

Speaking of recent BBQ successes, I’m finding maple syrup an indispensable ingredient for amping up the outdoorsy flavour of certain chicken, pork and fish dishes and all sorts of sauces. Amber maple syrup from Canada tends to be my go to. My recipe for maple walnut wings is an especially scrumptious treat to consider next time you grill.

LeanPac LPS1 Combination Bundle

The LeanPac system is a niche range of modular bags. I’ve got LeanPac’s LPS1 Combination Bundle, which includes the JamPac travel backpack; a HangPac overnight and toiletry bag; a few OrgPac travel organisers; a VacPac multipurpose dry or wet bag; and Trollite – the lightest travel trolley on the market. It’s not the most attractive luggage I’ve come across, but it is exceptionally lightweight and super sturdy. I like being able to mix and match with At £109 I reckon the LPS1 is extremely good value.
