Bar 1821: Luxardo Pop-Up in Shoreditch

P1180064

To celebrate the launch of its new Sour Cherry Gin, Italian spirits brand Luxardo has opened Bar 1821: a month long pop-up cocktail bar in Shoreditch.

In addition to the new sour cherry gin, the 1821 bartenders lean on Luxardo’s famous cocktail cherries and range of other liqueurs and syrups to mix up a flavoursome variety of drinks.

Two cocktails I especially enjoyed trying during recent media tasting event at the bar include the Sour Cherry Martinez (Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin, sweet vermouth, Luxardo Maraschino Originale, aromatic bitters) and the Hemingway Special (tequila blanco, Luxardo Bitter Bianco, freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice, Luxardo Maraschino Originale, and freshly squeezed lime juice). There are plenty more drinks on the menu though, priced from £8.

There’s cicchetti too. Most memorable nibbles for me from the tasting were aubergine nuggets, fried olives and an assortment of top quality Italian charcuterie. Prices for cichetti are £5.50 to £10.

Bar 1821 is open every Wednesday to Sunday until 9 September 2018 at 147 Bethnal Green Road, E2 7DG. Find out more about Luxardo at luxardo.it.
