Shuffle Like Santa in Brick Lane

New Cocktail Menu at The Cocktail Trading Co

Full disclosure, I’ve got a soft spot for The Cocktail Trading Co. You see, my day job is pretty glamorous. I’m often out and about drinking with bartenders as I interview them for a gin bar blog series. It’s safe to assume I’ve jotted down plenty of stories and have a feel for how each bar operates. But there are two in bars in particular that have stood out. CTC is one of them. Continue reading

Gourmet Gorditas at Sunday Upmarket

Gorditas are hand-made Mexican flatbreads made of wheat and stuffed with a yummy filling. Now you can get ‘em in London thanks to Pedro and Santiago, a couple of enterprising Mexicans who recently started traded under the name Gourmet Gorditas with a stall selling their gourmet versions of this Northern Mexican street food at Brick Lane’s Sunday Upmarket. Continue reading

Tapas Revolution, Shoreditch

Opened back in the spring, Chef Omar Allibhoy’s Tapas Revolution in Shoreditch seems to have settled in nicely to its Bethnal Green Road digs. #PukkaPimms Pop-Up Curry House – Saturday 6 December, Bethnal Green Road

A cold winter’s night, a warming spicy curry … and a refreshing glass of Pimm’s and lemonade? Wha … ? Believe it or not, these elements come to together in a moreishly complimentary way as I discovered last night at a preview of the #PukkaPimms pop-up restaurant near the ‘top end’ of Bethnal Green Road. Not sure such a mix would actually go down well? Find out for yourself this weekend when the pop-up opens to the public with celebrity Hardeep Singh Kohli as front of house. Continue reading

Craft Beer Rising Review by @cathiasays

Enjoy a Swedish Christmas Plate at Fika, Brick Lane

It had been a few years since my last visit to Fika Bar & Restaurant before my dinner there last week. The cosy little Scandi eatery at the top of Brick Lane seems to be as popular with the hipster set and as Swedish as it ever was. Never been to Fika or, like me, haven’t been in quite some time? With Xmas on the way and a special Jutallrik menu to celebrate the festive season, now’s a topical time to visit. Continue reading

London’s Best Bowling Alleys (CheapOair)

Let’s face it. London weather can be variable. And that’s putting it mildly. Folks looking to book their London flights probably aren’t planning their visit to work on their tans. That said, at the time of writing this blog post, London is in the midst of a mini-heat wave with clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Whatever the case with the weather may be, London offers a fantastic range of indoor activities such as bowling. Everybody likes to bowl, right? Continue reading
