A Worldwide Web of Somewheres | #TCTalks Episode 23

Episode 23 of tikichris Talks features an in-studio interview with Amanda Lwin, a multi-disciplinary maker of “Things about Places.” I met Amanda recently at the launch of Sculpture in the City, the City of London’s annual public art program/outdoor urban sculpture park. Amanda’s piece A Worldwide Web of Somewheres (on view inside Leadenhall Market) was one of my favourites of the 18 artworks that comprise Sculpture in the City. During my conversation with the erudite (but incredibly kind about it) Lwin, we chat about A Worldwide Web as well as systems and structures, the difference between a labyrinth and a maze, and all sorts of other fascinating topics that come from contemplating her work. Honi Poke Fenchurch Street

Honi Poke has opened its second location in London, this one near Fenchurch Street Station. Already a fan of Honi’s original Soho site (it’s probably my favourite poke in town), I was glad to hear the new of a more easterly sister outlet – and even more so when I got invited round to for a taste. Liberty Cheesesteak Company: Real Deal Philly Cheesesteak

Finding no satisfaction in London’s “cheesesteak” offerings – or often any resemblance to the mega meaty two-hander sandwiches of Italian-American origin famously from his hometown – JP decided to bring it here himself. Long story short: he ended up having to come up with a recipe for the right kind of bread and even created his own “wiz” cheese sauce. As for the steak, JP was happy enough with already available rib eye, sliced ultra thin for tastiest and most genuinely Philadelphian results. Continue reading
