The free event offered guests the chance to sample a variety of authentic and delicious dishes cooked by a variety of vendors from around the world. One of the highlights for me was getting to chat with Nick White, one of the founders of Orange Buffalo, and have a bite of his awesome and fiery Buffalo wings. Continue reading

Dixie Detours: Tabasco Tourism on Avery Island

Louisiana’s most iconic brand, McIlhenny Company’s Tabasco brand Original Red Sauce packs a wallop of distinctively spicy flavour. For all its flavoursome punch, it’s comprised of only three natural ingredients: aged red peppers, vinegar and salt from Avery Island, which is also the home of all Tabasco production. Our last day in Louisiana, Kemey and I spent a fantastic morning on Avery Island before carrying on with our Dixie Detours road trip. Here are some highlights from the fun time we had there. Recipe: Buffalo Nut Quesadillas

My vegetarian Buffalo nut quesadillas are quick and easy to make and very tasty. The sort of vegetarianism applied in this recipes comes more from me being a lazy cheapskate than from any ethical or health-related concerns. The aim (which I think I achieved) was maximum flavour through minimum effort. That said, the dish is meat free and features a few superfood ingredients which are very nutritious. Continue reading
