Bunny who?In case you’ve yet to get hip to this SA street food phenom, Bunnychow (the place, one word) serves bunny chow (traditional street food from Durban, two words). A “bunny” is a freshly baked bun hollowed out and “crammed” with hot fillings and topped with a bread lid (which serves as an excellent sopper-upper once you’re close to the bottom of your bunny). Lunch at Bunnychow

Bunnychow is a laidback sort of eatery with a no worries/no pretences vibe to it and where the star of the show is the filling and flavoursome food. Situated on Wardour Street in Soho (nearer the Shaftesbury Avenue end than the Oxford Street side), it’s a smart choice for an affordable quick bite … and if you like a bit of heat with your food, you’ll love bunnychow’s hot sauce (I sure did). London Daily Photo: Lunch with Siba

Lunch today came compliments of South African chef Siba Mtongaga who was in town today to promote her new Food Network UK series, Siba’s Table. Look for the show to premiere on the Food Network UK 23 September and to be aired weekdays at 12.30pm and 6.30pm. Brought to you by the team who created Nigella’s Kitchen and Barefoot Contessa, Siba’s Table is filmed in Cape Town, where the chef creates and serves a range of dishes for her friends and family. I can vouch that much of her food is delish. She makes a mean chakalaka and was a gracious during my meal. Continue reading
