Tasty Pacific Treats at Tombo Poké and Matcha Bar, Soho

That poké is now ‘a thing’ in London is weird one for me – and seems kinda random. There are at least three eateries (that I know of) now open in town with poké as the main menu item. It’s “the next ceviche” I’ve been told (more than a few times) when I mention that I think this trend is odd. Continue reading

Wasokan, Notting Hill: Europe’s First Authentic Japanese Kimono and Matcha Shop

It’s not a likely occurrence that a visit to the launch of a retail space in Notting Hill turns to talk bringing more harmony to the people of Europe. But that was the sort of chat I had with Noriyuki Ikeda at his new kimono and matcha shop, Wasokan, on Westbourne Grove. Continue reading

Ah tea … and crumpets. Amid an Old Street panoply of virtually whatever you choose to sip and sup, food that’s quintessentially British is in short supply. Good & Proper Tea Co aims to change that.
