Little Feast street market has been going strong for almost two months now with about another month to go. I just managed to swing by for the first time last week. It’s a pleasant setting for a fun night of nosh with plenty of (covered) outdoor seating, a friendly vibe and a convenient location just across the street from Goldhawk Road Station. Theo’s Simple Italian, Earl’s Court

Newly opened Theo’s Simple Italian is Chef Theo Randall’s second restaurant, this one near Earl’s Court and tied to The Hotel Indigo. Like his eponymous restaurant at The Intercontinental, this venture features expertly prepared dishes of top quality and seasonal Italian ingredients but with a smaller menu (fairly ‘smaller’ prices too) that changes on a more frequent basis and is presented in a more casual setting. Pizza Masterclasses at Rossopomodoro

I love Neapolitan style pizza. It’s one of my favourite foods and probably the one dish I could eat everyday for the longest time without getting tired of it. I reckon the pizzas coming from the wood-fired ovens of Rossopomodoro are among London’s finest. So when the invitation came my way to attend a press night preview of its new pizza masterclasses hosted by the restaurant group’s senior pizzaioli I was keen to attend. Continue reading

Wasokan, Notting Hill: Europe’s First Authentic Japanese Kimono and Matcha Shop

It’s not a likely occurrence that a visit to the launch of a retail space in Notting Hill turns to talk bringing more harmony to the people of Europe. But that was the sort of chat I had with Noriyuki Ikeda at his new kimono and matcha shop, Wasokan, on Westbourne Grove. Continue reading

Toro Gordo: Stylish Tapas for Hammersmith

Spanish bar and restaurant Toro Gordo brings piquant panache to West London. I had a fantastic time tasting my way through its menu of contemporary and stylishly presented tapas and reckon if you’re in the area you could do a lot worse. Indeed, for drinky drinks and scrumptious nibbles with a convivial vibe that’s just a short stroll away from Hammersmith Tube (not to mention Ravenscourt Park) you’d be hard pressed to find a better venue. No bull! Continue reading

Theatre Review: We are Proud to Present … Namibia, Bush Theatre

We are Proud to Present a Presentation about the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as Southwest Africa, from the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884 – 1915 may be an exhaustingly exhaustive title to say (and even type) but it’s an otherwise invigorating piece of work to see performed. Theatre Review: The Golden Dragon at the Drayton Arms, SW5

Fancy a theatrical and thought provoking Thai/Chinese/Vietnamese takeaway? The Golden Dragon is a “dark modern tale of immigration” set in the kitchen of an East Asian restaurant as well as in the homes and businesses of some of its regular patrons. Just in time for Chinese New Year … German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig’s one act exacting contemplation of globalisation is on for a (very) short run at South Kensington’s Drayton Arms pub theatre. Continue reading

50% Off Lunch This Friday at Quantus in Chiswick

Quantus restaurant in Chiswick was one of the best restaurants I visited in 2013 and was a rare venture westward when I really thought I might be missing out on something good and London-y by living in the East End. “Destination dining at its best” was how I summed up my experience there, and I definitely am keen to repeat that sojourn for another taste. If you’re all about fine food sans hype, you’d be wise to eat there too. Anytime to visit Quantus is a good time I reckon, especially this Friday (24 January) when the restaurant will present an opportunity to try its new lunch menus with 50% off the total bill. Continue reading

Theatre Review: Orangutan Productions’ Othello at Riverside Studios

Now on at Riverside Studios, Orangutan Productions’ film noir take on Othello – Shakespeare’s tale of racism, love, jealousy and betrayal (and maybe in a word, paranoia) – engages and beguiles. I hit the press night staging of Othello: The Moor of Venice and found it a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a ‘school night’ which yielded an evening’s worth of entertainment that I could easily recommend. Continue reading

25% Off Flying Burger Company Premium Burger Delivery

Flying Burger Company is a burger-only/delivery-only biz. Right now it’s serving a small area of West London – W11 4, W14 8, W14 0, W6 7 and W12 8 – roughly Notting Hill and bits near High Street Kensington, Shepherd’s Bush, and Hammersmith. However, I reckon the concept is a smart one and has a good chance of taking off and successfully soaring. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see service extend across London soon. Continue reading
