“I approach the same global issues as many of the other artists working today but choose to voice my opinion in a more subdued way. There are always social, political and environmental issues apparent in my paintings; I guess I’d rather make viewers think about things, rather than tell them how to think.”

Jeff Soto/Inland Empire at Stolenspace

This “politically charged” exhibition focuses on the themes of recession and the seemingly irreversible damage humans are causing to the planet. Despite the doom and gloom, Soto’s works aren’t without vibrant glimmers of hope, a keen perception of the everyday beauty at hand and a fuzzy, surreally organic tone that suggests that … well maybe just maybe … things might turn out alright.
