Kitchen Update with Salter Olea

Just about the same time as some renovation work was being completed on my kitchen, an email landed in my inbox with the subject line “Refresh your kitchen with Salter Olea.”

Serendipitous? Possibly. Certainly worth a click.

The email was from the PR agency representing consumer goods brand, Salter, and specifically its Olea range. Established in 1760, Salter specialises in a kitchen and household items from utensils to small appliances. Despite being more than 260 years old, Salter’ Olea range offers contemporary appeal, or at least that’s my take of the modern and neutral accessories available exclusively from Tesco.

Images of a light grey salt and pepper mill set and a couple of acacia wood chopping boards with charcoal-coloured handles – one paddle-shaped, the other larger with a big loop handle – caught my eye. I’d been on the lookout for some decent mills for a while, and as long as there’s room to store them neatly, a couple of extra chopping boards would be handy to have around. Samples were requested and soon procured.

Now in use, they look good in my kitchen (as I assume would in most typical kitchens). I like the sturdy and attractive design of both the mills and the boards. With holes in their handles, the chopping boards can be put away with ease by hanging them on hooks along my kitchen wall. I’m happy using these basic items for preparing food and dining.

Prices for these items are in line with expectations and are especially affordable for Tesco Clubcard members. The salt and pepper mill set has a recommended retail price of £26, but is only £13 with a Tesco Clubcard. The paddle chopping board has a recommended retail price £14 with a Tesco Clubcard price half-off at £7. The larger loop chopping board’s RRP is £22, £11 with Tesco Clubcard.

The mills and the boards come with two-year warranties.

Next time I’m need of something else for the kitchen, I’d take a moment to check the Salter website. I can imagine myself browsing the relevant aisles when shopping at Tesco, which I do occasionally.
