Les Deux Amies, a Crepe Reason to Visit Boxpark Croydon

Sweet or savoury, your crepe (or galette) will be made fresh and with a smile at Les Deux Amies.

It’s going on two years since I became acquainted with the founders of Les Deux Amies at Old Street Station and their “good food, good people” approach to running a crepe bar. Since then, they’ve crowdfunded their way into their own unit at Boxpark Croydon. As I was in Croydon recently and having lunch at next door neighbour, Carioca, I made sure to save room for dessert and dropped by afterwards for a crepe.

It was a tasty one too, with a regular crepe base (as opposed to a traditional Bretagne buckwheat galette) with especially yummy homemade salted caramel, vanilla ice cream and almonds. There was no skimping on ingredients either – double that sentiment with respect to the extra thick layer of salted caramel.

By the way, you can (and should) buy a jar of Les Deux Amies’ salted caramel and other treats such as homemade banana jam in-shop or online.

It’s not just about the sweet stuff though. Les Deux Amies does savoury too, with a lengthy list of meat, fish, veg, nuts, spreads, fruits and more.

Prices are nice too. A galette is £2, and a crepe is £2.50 with whatever you add to it ranging from 50p (for options like free range egg, banana, or sugar) to £2.50 (for premium options such as halloumi or salmon). Most items cost £1. Mine was £5.75:

  • Crepe, £2.50;
  • Salted caramel, £1.50;
  • Ice cream, £1;
  • Almonds, 75p.

As when launched a couple years ago, Les Deux Amies remains committed to working closely with charities, such as Emmaus, to support people in need through employment and “restore their self-esteem and find a new way and inspiration in their life.”

All that deliciousness and kindness plus friendly service with a smile? I’m so in!

Les Deux Amies is located at Unit 7 Boxpark, London, 99 George Street, CR0 1LD. Find out more at lesdeuxamies.co.uk.
