This month’s choice brings a taste of zest to the palate and is sipped with earnest hopes for a lovely summer. Indeed, with its light and lemony finish, Berry Bros & Rudd’s 2007 Extra Ordinary White is a winner of a warm weather wine.
With hints of almond and tropical fruits, it seems like a perfect quaff for pairing with grilled or roasted chicken as well as spicy Indian and Southeast Asian dishes. It wouldn’t be a bad one to serve chilled during a picnic either. I certainly wouldn’t mind a glass or two of this Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend while dining (or just nibbling) al fresco.
Medium-full bodied and dry, this affordable and no nonsense white is guaranteed to please. Pick up a bottle for £11.50 (or £10.35 for unsplit orders of 12). As for those hopes for a lovely summer … well … with the bank holiday weekend about to make a soggy turn for the worse here in London, all bets are off!
