Wine of the Month: 2010 Berrys’ Chianti, Badia a Coltibuono, Tuscany

Yes, I’m well aware that it’s been more than a year and a half since my last WOTM review. Hey, just trying to live life these days sometimes gets in the way of trying to live the good life – let alone find the time to blog about it. Anyway, the series is back, and appropriately enough, I’m quite thankful to be reporting on a winner of wine as Christmas nears and 2011 draws to a close.

So without further ado, I present Berry Bros and Rudd’s 2010 Berry’s Chianti. This dry, light to medium bodied 2010 blend of Canaiolo, Colorino and mostly Sangiovese from historic Chianti Classico estate Badia a Coltibuono accompanied my Thanksgiving dinner last week. And I’d like to think it did so exceptionally well.

Red berry notes, vinified without oak, certified organic, pesticide and herbicide free – it’s one for every palate and complementary to a range of dishes. It certainly held its own and then some alongside my T Day turkey as well as any wine at any price point probably could have. At £10.95 per bottle or twelve bottles at £9.86 each for a total of £118.32, it’s a bargain.
