2012 Resolutions

Yeah so I’m taking my own sweet time gradually getting around to making my new year’s resolutions for 2012. Bear with me please. I’m still a bit jet lagged after three weeks in the States and playing as capable a game of catch up as I can with my London workload and home life. Besides, publishing this post more than a week into 2012 is sort of in accord with one of my goals for the year: be more patient and focus on what’s at hand. I can be a hot head sometimes, rush when I don’t really have to and basically fumble through the ‘now’ in anticipation of the future.

How to go about this? Deep breaths, less time piddling with gadgets, simply acknowledging that I want to be a more patient person … I’m still working out the strategies (and certainly welcome any suggestions). I reckon if I achieve even a smidgen of success I’ll see the reward in myriad ways: better writing, better photography, better grip on my finances, more time with the people who mean the most to me, deeper appreciation of experiences …

Another resolution for this year is simply to keep up the good work from past resolutions which I feel I’ve more or less accomplished over the past few years. In particular, I’d like to continue being a non-smoker. Stopping smoking cigarettes was a big one for me last year. It took almost the whole year to quit, along with a lot of help and kindness from my girlfriend, but I did it!

See my 2009, 2010 and 2011 resolutions.

Do you have any resolutions for 2012? Got tips on how to keep ’em? How’d you do with any you might have set for yourself last year?

Happy new year!
Chris
