It looks like this summer’s going to be a busy one at London’s Heathrow Airport. An estimated 80% of all visitors with flights to London for  the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are expected to pass through the airport. That’s almost 60,000 passengers including 12,850 athletes and 14,700 accredited media as well as marketing partners, officials and – of course – the spectators. To ensure that these visitors’ first experience of London and the UK before the Olympics will be a positive one, the British Airports Authority (BAA) is upping its game to deal with the high volume of flyers.

  2. The day after the closing ceremony of the Olympics is expected to be Heathrow’s busiest ever day (teams, officials and visitors will arrive over a period, but all want to leave at the same time). In fact it will be so busy that the airport will build a temporary ‘Olympic terminal’ just for that day. Will the airport cope though? Does anyone else fear that a great Olympics will be somewhat soured by massive delays at Heathrow for people trying to fly away?

We’ll see! Personally, I think they’ll pull it off. In general though, it’s going to be a crazy summer here in London.

Thanks for you’re comment. How do you think the cock ups will play out?
