“Shutterbuggery” – The First Shot to Seriousness
I often think that I am a shutterbug. For an amateur photographer, that name would be like gold. As if it is a new nickname, a budding hobbyist will immediately embrace that name and be proud of it for a long time and will eventually realize it is an insult for those professional photographers. I don’t really care much about technicalities or nicknames and such, and I’d shrug it off if I’m called a shutterbug. I’m more into taking photos the way I want than fuss over what level I am in this field. I bet I’m one of those shutterbugs, I don’t really know.
Well, there was a time when I really focused all my energy into developing what my father has said to be raw potential. I drowned myself in learning how to use a camera properly although when I think of it now, I already forgot half of the names of the techniques right after I turn off the computer. Even until now, I still have a hard time remembering names or what a technique like this or that is called. But all is well. I started taking photos of almost about anything when I was a kid and the thrill of getting nice photos never left me. I am pretty sure I can produce good photos if I’d put my mind into it yet I am aware I am far from being a real photographer. So between those times of learning photography someone asked me to be the photographer of their wedding event. I was shocked and excited at the same time. I prepared everything with nervousness and constant self boosting of confidence. It was crazy! However when the date of the wedding came, I was really excited and bursting with energy so I clicked and clicked my camera happily.
The ceremony was bliss. Everything happened so fast and not long after that, my body staggers below my weight. Filipino weddings are very different from other cultures and are mostly about meeting new people, eating merrily together and taking pictures. Insert a ceremony in between. You can just imagine how tired I got because almost all the people want me to be at their side because I carry a camera. It was a tiring yet fun filled day. So I included some of the photos I have of the wedding. I hope you like them. Moreover, if you think I still have a lot to improve, please do tell.
