So about this time last year I was actually in the Italian Alps where I was having a blast and left with but one regret: I didn’t actually make it to South Tyrol. Based on my experience, I can say Italy’s Dolomites make an ideal destination for anyone seeking a European winter wonderland … and from all I heard while traveling around the greater region of northern Italian, South Tyrol is the quintessential best.
Have you ever dreamed what the perfect winter holiday would be like? Would there be lots of snow? Fantastic food? Panoramic vistas of stunning alpine scenery? Well, South Tyrol offers all of that and more! And right now the region is running a competition to giveaway a week’s skiing holiday plus £1000 of Salomon ski gear!
South Tyrol is home to World Cup slopes Saslong and Gran Risa with vertical drops of more than 400m and maximum inclines crossing 50%. There’s the Fanes-Senes Natural Park covering 25,000 hectares of the stunning Dolomites as well as 26km of slopes passing through the four Ladin Valleys and around the Sella Massif. Another local claim to fame is the highest elevated sauna in Europe at the Bella Vista beside the Hochjochferner Glacier. The region can boast an impressive 23 Michelin stars across 20 restaurants including Auener Hof, the highest-located Michelin starred restaurant in Italy.
Like I said, I’m kicking myself for not making it to South Tyrol last winter when I was discovering the Dolomites. I guess I better enter that comp ASAP! How about you? Ready to play? Watch the beautiful video and enter the competition! You never know, you might win and have the trip of a lifetime!
