Inspired and Aspiring Travel with IHG’s Spire Elite

IHG Spire Elite Membership

Over the summer, IHG unveiled its Rewards Club’s new top membership level: Spire Elite. When asked to give it a test run with a jaunt over to the Continent, I did not hesitate to take IHG up on the offer. With dozens of properties where I could stay and a seemingly unlimited number of bookable flights, my only problem was deciding where I wanted to go the most!

Awarded to club members with a minimum of 75 nights at nights at qualifying rates who earn at least 75,000 Elite Qualifying points over a calendar year, once Spire Elite status is reached, members stay at that level until the end of the following year.

Participating IHG brands in the new level include InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, and Candlewood Suites, Even and Hualuxe.

Extended checkout, no blackout dates, free internet access, priority check-in, and complimentary room upgrades are but a few of the goodies offered to Spire Elite members. As for me and where I craved most to visit, I opted for Rome. It’s a city I’ve been to before (in fact, Rome was the first place outside the US that I ever visited) and odds are I’ll head back there yet again but for a ‘quickie’ city break it’s hard to beat … especially considering my girlfriend’s never been there and I had enough points to book both of us in for a few days (with a sizeable chunk of points left for future fun).

Where would you go in such a situation? Would a Roman holiday be your reward?

I’m heading to the Eternal City in mid November. Keep an eye out for a write up about the best bits of the experience. Ciao!
