Are you the type of person who likes to think outside the box – while staying within the lines? Here’s a fun dining experience for you: The Art of Mindfulness Colouring at Scandinavian inspired eatery, Kupp.
The new canal-side Merchant Square café, bar and restaurant is providing ten illustrations ranging in difficulty for customers to colour in (pencils and markers provided) during their visits. The free activity is a good excuse to let loose some creativity and chill out as well as to have a go at a chance to win breakfast for four in two competition categories: Adults and Children (15 and under). Are your colouring skills up for the challenge?
The Art of Mindfulness Colouring competition lasts until the end of March. A smart combo for your colouring might be Kupp’s Bottomless Boozy brunch (£30 per person) every Saturday and Sunday between noon and 5pm featuring 90 minutes of unlimited smorgasbord refills alongside unlimited pints of Czech Pilsner Krusovice or a choice unlimited Aquavit cocktails.
Even if you don’t want to colour, or visit during brunch, I reckon Kupp’s a fine place to eat and drink. I very much enjoyed my meal (while colouring in between bites) during my Friday evening visit. And there were plenty more folks during that time who seemed more than happy simply to congregate at the front of the venue for drinks at the bar.
I’m pleased to report that the food was yummy. A “graze and share” serving of home smoked trout and new potato salad with capers, shaved red onion, cornichons and cress (£8.50) was a light and healthy treat, as was an epically proportioned “Proper Pork Handmade Swede Dog” topped with pickled cabbage, Bostongurka and & Johnny’s sweet mustard and served with skinny fries (£10 or £11 with Västerbotten cheese). I had mine with the Västerbotten. A pint of Krusovice paired nicely with both the trout and the dog. Feeling rather stuffed and running a bit late for my next engagement, I forewent dessert.
There were a lot more to the menu that what I sampled, with loads of veggie options and a number of meatier temptations that could see me returning to Kupp for another taste in the near future. Service was friendly. The canal side setting was pleasant and pretty.
