Spice Deli Supper Club

A love of spices and how they boost immunity and flavour are the inspirations behind North London supper club, Spice Deli.

With children of her own, professionally trained chef Kim Wilshaw has worked to teach mothers how to cook baby food which incorporates spices and has taught Indian cooking classes. Keen to carry on spreading the good news about spices, she recently started the Spice Deli supper club, cohosted with her husband, Tarun, in their Golders Green home.

I very much enjoyed my visit to the last Spice Deli dinner. Invited in with the offer of a gingery gin and ale cocktail, the menu presented during my dine featured a homey red lentil soup (with Kashmiri red chilli, cumin, curry leaves and garlic); irresistible matchstick okra (with black salt and red chilli powder); fiery and filling pork belly vindaloo; carrot and cashew salad (with mustard seeds and curry leaves; and strawberry and pink peppercorn ice cream with pistachio and rose petals.

Every bite intrigued. The okra was my fave, but I like the ice cream a lot too. Kim and Tarun were gracious hosts. At the end of the meal, Kim came out and played a little ‘guess the spice’ game with her guests that was fun and informative. I’m now on the outlook for some black cardamom for my own kitchen creations.

Spice Deli supper club is hosted in a comfortable and inviting private home in Golders Green. The address is shared with RSVPed guests in time to plan for travel. Find out more:
