Sushi. But not as you know it. That was my experience munching my way through a range of sushi rolls and such from Sushi Shop.
Receiving a voucher from Sushi Shop, I dropped by the Marylebone branch over the weekend to grab something to go for a casual get together with friends.
I got the limited edition,42-piece Sushi Shop Football Club Box. Presented in an attractive box with logo designed by French artist Tyrsa, it features a range of rolls including three new – and rather intriguing – recipes: six sunny rolls (sea bream, kumquat, avocado, miso sauce); six smoky rolls (smoked mozzarella, shrimp tempura, cucumber, tonkatsu sauce, Thai chives, seven-spice shichimi); and two creamy sushi pieces (salmon, Japanese mayonnaise, masago). I really liked the smoky rolls. Other pieces in the box includes and assortment of salmon and tuna maki and nigiri, spicy tuna spring rolls, and fried chicken avocado rolls. The spicy tuna and fried chicken were winners for me.
Priced at £45, I reckon the box was good value and was as fun to eat as it was tasty and ideal for sharing with a small group. We weren’t watched the footie, but I can see how this offer would be a perfect pairing to catching a match (or any sporting event) on TV.
I’m not sure when Sushi Shop will stop offering the Football Club Box. Maybe at the end of UEFA Euro 2016? But obviously there’s plenty more to choose from.
Sushi Shop is located at 67-69 Weymouth St, Marylebone, London W1G 8NY. There’s an outlet at Old Brompton Street as well. Find out more at mysushishop.co.uk.
