Argentine winemaker, Graffigna, threw the meatiest of parties recently at Dinerama in Shoreditch.
Graffigna’s open air Gran Asado was a chance to celebrate the Argentina’s pasión for steak and Malbec while publicly recognising the winner of the 2016 London Steak Awards.
Congratulations to Soho steakhouse, MASH, for winning this year’s award and for wowing its judges: Chef Neil Rankin, Foodism Editor Jon Hawkins, Wine Blogger Matt Walls and Group Editor of Casual Dining Magazine Tristan O’Hana. The competition was juicy too and represented a who’s who of London steak restaurants with Hawksmoor, Goodman and Gaucho making the shortlist alongside MASH.
It was an easygoing evening, with copious amount of everything served – especially meat and Malbec. And with the winner of the LSA already decided the most difficult choices to make were to determine which was better: grilled argentine rib eye or entraña skirt steak, accompanied with a chimichurri or criolla sauce and paired with Graffigna Centenario Malbec Reserve 2014 or its Grand Reserve Malbec 2012.
Good thing I was able to enjoy plenty of both cuts, sauces and wines as I still could narrow down a preference. I love it all so much. And absolutely gorgeously great thing, steaks, sauces and all sorts of starters and sides I’ve failed to mentioned were prepared by famed Argentine chef Fernando Trocca.
