There were moments this year when, honestly, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
A vast horizon with nothing between it and me but the road … a multitude of stars blanketing the sky with zero light pollution to obscure it … a rhinoceros … elephants … a weeks old lion cub … a family of giraffes loping across a barren desert … the ocean crashing on the side of giant sea cliffs in the morning, lapping at my toes come evening … some of the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten … … old friends and family whom I had not seen in far too many years … the warm smile of my partner who’s made it clear she’s here for the thick and the thin.
Sure, there have been plenty of less than wonderful moments … more than usual … times when I cringed or felt like reality had sucker punched me in the stomach … times when a feeling of dread came over me like never before in my adult life.
Still, 2016 was one of the most eventful years in my life, and I have so much to be thankful for. I hope you do too.
Happy thanksgiving.
