Super popular American lunch app – MealPal – has launched in London. Through the app, you can reserve quick pickup lunches for less than £5 per meal at a time and place convenient for you. But before you get all excited about that, check out this opportunity to give the app a spin with a week’s worth of free lunches and no obligation to continue after that.

I’ve teamed up with the folks at MealPal to spread the word about their app by offering all my readers the chance to use it for free for a week (that’s Monday through Friday).

I booked my first lunch through MealPal last night, and grabbed it early this afternoon at a popular Soho sandwich shop. The process went off without a hitch and was definitely quicker (and cheaper) than if I’d just showed up at the shop or got something comparable some other way.

Process was seamless. Options were plentiful and varied. Using the app is even kind of fun. It feels like a game browsing what’s available for the next day. As a MealPal member you get a “kitchen is open” email in the evening letting you know you can go on the app to reserve your lunch for the next day.

MealPal London

For the time being, participating venues on the app are mostly clustered around Soho, Clerkenwell, Farringdon, Shoreditch and the City. But there are others scattered across Central London, and I’m pretty sure as MealPal’s popularity grows so will the number of places involved. I’ve already got a list of favourite eateries saved on the app to try for upcoming lunches as well, including a few places I already know and love and some more I’ve been meaning to visit for a while. I’ll probably review a few of them here on the blog when experiences prove especially yummy.

Whatever the case, it’s hard to go wrong with a £5 lunch ready to be collected when you want to eat it. And it’s really hard to beat free – for a week.

  1. Out of interest, when would the week free trial start or kick in?

    • tikichris says:

      Hi Andrew,

Thanks for writing, It should kick in for the next available day and then run for a week. So if you downloaded the app today (Friday afternoon) you could have your first free meal on Monday with a week to take advantage of the five free lunches – basically over the course of the next five weekdays after you sign up.

      Does that make sense?

      Chris

Hi Chris, id like to try. Is the link not valid anymore as it just goes to the homepage? Thanks, silvia

    • tikichris says:

It should still be valid. But let me double check. Thanks.

        Hi Chris

The link seems to be taking me to the homepage too and is asking for my bank details. Is the offer not valid anymore?

        Thanks

In case you are interested, I did a quick review on my blog. https://enkemeniel.wordpress.com/2017/03/08/lunch-munches-from-mealpal/ Thanks for the experience, btw!

Hi Chris, is your link still working?
Seems to just be signing up to a regular plan without any indication of your promotion above?

  6. E says:

    Hi Chris,

I would really like to try this, but I’m finding the same issue as everyone else and that the link isn’t working – has this offer now been taken down?

    Thanks!

  7. Thanks for the heads up Chris. Roma tried this out in Soho for a week. Nice initiative, interesting choices. Also good that each haunt changes their menu option most days to make sure there’s an array of options.

  8. Kavey says:

Just wanted to let you know, having picked up my last free mealpal lunch today, that I’m a huge fan and thank you so much for this great offer. I’m not sure I’d have signed up to try this out without the offer, but now I have seen what you get and how it works, I am keen to buy a subscription. My only question mark, which I’m going to raise with Mealpal directly, is whether they have a plan that offers lower numbers of meals in a month – for those of us who only work part time. Fingers crossed.

    • tikichris says:

      Hey Kavey,

Thanks! I’m so glad you were able to try out the app and that you liked it so much. I hope they have a plan that suits you best.

      Good luck,
      Chris
