There are so many things to do in Los Angeles that you can find yourself running out of time while visiting the city.
For those of you with limited time here, ifonly.com has a bunch of recommendations for you. You could even spend the days you have at the museums and never even look in the general direction of Hollywood, which is all people seem to think about when they are here. Here are some of the best sights and sounds in the City of Angels.
Getting Sandy at Venice Beach
Ah, Venice. This little town in LA is one of the biggest tourist hotspots in California. It is known for being the scene of the events of the hit TV shoe Californication and the adventures of grumpy degenerate Hank Moody. Venice is full of tourists, although the majority are just passing through before moving on to the movie sets of Hollywood. Take a walk along the boardwalk at Venice Beach for a taste of life in LA like you’ve never seen before.
Be A Star and Meet One in Hollywood
While it is true that Hollywood is the most mainstream LA attraction in the world, who doesn’t want to catch a glimpse of their favorite silver screen stars? Take a walk down the famous Walk of Fame, where you can check out the popular celebrity names and stars. Look for your favorites in the 2000+ names carved out here. If you’re lucky, you might even get to see a movie set in full swing, or share a coffee shop with your favorite big screen star.
Visit the Getty Center
This museum may very well be one of the most famous and best in the world. The Getty Center is located on a hilltop looking over the city and is famed for its incredible collection of art through history. Go here for a chance to check out works from Ruben, Monet, Van Gogh, and more. There is a sculpture garden here for those of you with a passion for stonework.
Feel Like a Pretty Woman on Rodeo Drive
Julia Roberts made this strip more famous than ever when the public first saw her antics in the movie Pretty Woman. This is one of the most expensive shopping districts in the world, but you can still go window shopping if you can’t afford it! The old-fashioned cobblestones on the streets and the old walkways make for a pretty great experience!
Los Angeles is famous for the urban architecture it contains. This is one of the largest and most diverse cities in the world. There are many gorgeous buildings here that are a monument to human creativity and design. Take a walking tour around the top streets of the city to witness the city of angels in all her glory. From the ancient theaters that reek of history and culture to the bimonthly tours of the city’s skyline, a walking tour is by far the cheapest and the best way to witness all that this city has to offer.
