Comida Fest 2017

Did you miss Comida Fest at Cutty Sark Gardens in Greenwich this past weekend? Well then you missed a couple of days of foodie fun. But don’t feel too bad about it. There’ll be a couple of other opportunities to check out this Latin American street food festival in London later this summer at Tower Bridge and Putney.

Me? I’m hoping to go back for seconds I had such a yummy time tasting my way through the fest in Greenwich.

Along with a small group of other bloggers, I was invited to sample dishes and drinks from all the traders at last weekend’s Comida Fest. Honestly, I enjoyed everything I tried and there was nothing off-putting or even just so-so to come my way. However, rather than run down that list of nearly 20 treats, allow me to share with you the highlights of my experience.

My three absolute faves were a hot dog topped with shredded beef from Brazilian street food purveyor Tico’s; a smoked steak wrap from Smokoloko also from Brazil; and the arepas from Venezuelan traders Guasacasa.

A cup of iced coffee from Colombian mobile café, El Cafecito, a quenching freshly pressed watermelon juice from Elephant Juices, and some fresh coconut water from Shocka’s Coconut Hub all refreshed and hydrated deliciously. On the boozier side of things, a margarita compliments of Café Pacifico (London’s oldest Mexican restaurant) had a cooling kick to it.

Next Comida Fest dates are 12 and 13 August 2017 at Potters Fields Park near the south side of Tower Bridge and 16 and 17 September in Bishop Park at Putney Bridge. Find out more at comidafest.com.
