Gesmay Paynter’s recipe book, The Secret Life of Bananas, features a bunch of delicious recipes with bananas as the main ingredient. I’ve certain found it to be an a-peel-ing read, and I’m sure you will too.

Author, speaker and self proclaimed Banana Ambassador, Gesmay Paynter was born in the Seychelles. She grew up on a farm eating bananas – more than 15 varieties of the fruit actually – as a main part of her diet. As she moved on to travel the world and live in several different countries, Gesmay discovered the humble banana from back home was one of the healthiest and yummiest foods for her.
Say the author about eating bananas:
I incorporate bananas into my daily diet because they are high in potassium, niacin and riboflavin and contain vitamins A, B, and B6, as well as dietary fibre, magnesium, iron, and calcium.
Did you know that potassium is a vital mineral, which normalises heartbeat while regulating the body’s water balance? Banana is a rich source of potassium; it re-balances disturbances of fluids in the body.
Gesmay’s book features dozens of recipes for cocktails, smoothies, starters, mains, desserts and more. I love her recipe for banana fritters and her green baby banana chutney.
