Craving pancakes? My Old Dutch does them right with efficient service.
It’d been a while since I had indulged in a meal at My Old Dutch. But when an invitation to review the High Holborn pancake house came I way I remembered how much I had enjoyed my last time there and was glad to take the restaurant up on its offer to try it again.
My midweek late breakfast/early lunch was scrumptious and filling. Also filling was the restaurant itself with loads of folks looking for a quick lunch – whether solo with a close friend or in a big group.
A stack of butterscotch pancakes with crispy bacon with fried eggs, maple syrup and butter (£10.50) was all I needed to keep me going until a very late dinner. It was a delicious breakfast-y ensemble too. Upping the yum (and committing to a subsequent trip to gym), I paired my pancakes with a thick and rich coffee flavoured milkshake (£3.95). Had I been visiting later in the day or on the weekend, I probably would have gone with a beer a Dutch or Belgian beer from the drinks menu. I was offered the opportunity for some sweet at the end of my lunch, but I just didn’t have any room for even one more bite.
My Old Dutch’s dining room is vast but comfy, utilitarian but pleasant with plenty of Netherland-y décor: lots of Delft pottery on its proudly orange-painted walls.
Service was fast and friendly.
