National Curry Week is on from 9 to 15 October and among the restaurants celebrating it in London is Darbaar, with Chef Abdul Yaseen creating a range of limited run curry dishes especially for the occasion.
I wangled my way to the table for a recent media tasting of Chef Abdul’s limited run Curry Week dishes and savoured every taste of the experience.
Dishes include Hyderabadi Chicken Korma, Royal Bengal-Style Fish Curry and Fisherman’s Beef Vindaloo. They cost £16 each and are available during lunch and dinner from Monday the 9th through Saturday the 15th. I like all three but if I had to pick one to recommend I’d probably go with the vindaloo. It was so tender and full of flavour. I also liked very much other morsels sampled from Darbaar’s a la carte menu, the award-winning wild Madagascar prawns (£16) were probably my fave. A couple of glasses of the house Merlot was a winner when paired with every item mentioned.
I loved the upscale and plush look and feel of Darbaar as well, especially given my chance to dine at the Chef’s Table which seats 12 and offers excellent views of the open kitchen. Service was swift and cordial throughout my visit.
