Daisy Green Collection has launched its latest venue: a pair of city barges moored outside Paddington Station and featuring vivid exterior designs by famed artist Sir Peter Blake (best known for co-creating the cover art for the Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
Come summertime, these boats (one’s more restaurant-y that other more for drinks) promise to be the Paddington go-to for al fresco fun. In the meanwhile, they’re still an ace setting I recommend checking out. I had a blast at the opening party late last week.
During the soiree, I was pleased to see (and taste) faves I’ve enjoyed at other Daisy Green venues, including the crave-worthy Classic Chicken Parmigiana (panko crusted chicken schnitzel, prosciutto, crushed tomatoes, burrata and iceberg salad, £16.50); irresitable halloumi fries (with pomegranate yoghurt, lemon and mint, £7.50); and sashimi grade tuna steak (with raw Jerusalem artichoke, fennel and caper salad and salsa verde, £22.50).
I was pleased with the drinks too: mostly Australian wines and a solid line up of largely London brewed beers. Presumably there’ll be awesome coffee too, as is the norm across this Aussie owned collection of eateries and cafes.
As with the other half dozen or so Daisy Green venues, the Darcie & May site brings yummy and clean eats to a unique setting. This new dazzling duo of Pop Art barges bobbling beside each other should prove a welcome addition to Paddington Central and will be one I’ll keep in mind for future foodie forays.
Look for Darcie & May Green on the Grand Union Canal outside the Sheldon Square exit of Paddington Station, W2 6DS. Find out more at daisygreenfood.com.
I missed this sadly, would have been also fun to see you again!
It was a great time. Sorry you couldn’t make it.
