Pizza Express has brought its range of Leggera pizzas from the pages of its restaurant menu to the aisles of your local supermarket.
Leggera means “light” in Italian and is a term that aptly applies to these low calorie single-serving pizzas created for people who want to eat healthily without compromising on flavour.
The Leggera pizzas available in the shops now have a multi-grain base (wheat, spelt and rye) and feature and inspired combination of toppings. Pizza Express invited me to have a taste of the new pizzas. I tried two, which I believe are the only ones stocked at the moment: Chicken & Vegetable and Squash, Kale & Goat’s Cheese. The chicken pizza has a mix of chicken, aubergine, peppers, semi dried tomatoes and basil pesto. The squash pizza comes with butternut squash, kale, goat’s cheese, red onion, rosemary and thyme.
If you like Pizza Express Classic Pizzas, you’ll love these new ones. I was partial to the Chicken & Vegetable. As with the Classic range, the Leggera pizzas cook quick and easy.
Look for Pizza Express Leggera at Waitrose branches nationwide, priced around £3.79.
