Hello 2018. I’m resolved to make the most out of you.
This year my aim is to keep building – and bettering – the online presence of tikichris in three key ways.
Podcasting
Toward the end of 2017 I finally got round to kicking off my tikichris Talks podcast. Upon reflection, the only major hurdle was mustering up the gumption to get started with it. I’ve really been enjoying every aspect of the process since then – especially interviewing interesting and inspiring people. I think each episode (there are eight to date) is significantly more listenable and slightly more polished than the one before it. I look forward to working more on tikichris Talks and taking on other similar projects in the months to come and making podcasting a bigger priority.
Contributions
I’m fortunate to have a few enthusiastic writers willing to contribute and fill in for me as I travel more and try to go deeper with the topics I write about. Being able to rely on this small but keen pool of contributors has helped broaden the appeal and scope of tikichris. I hope to find ways to increase their (and potentially other new contributors’) voices on this blog and make my site more of a community of active writers than merely a mouthpiece for my own idiosyncratic whims.
Competitions
Though still a very small percentage of the content I produce, my regularly run competitions rank among my most popular posts and are a fun way for me to thank my readers for taking an interest in what I do while sharing some of the best stuff I come across with them. For 2018, I’ve got some ideas to take my comps and giveaways to a new level with bigger prizes and even more engaging ways to play.
2017 Resolved?
My 2017 resolution was to reduce typos. I definitely did. But there’s still such a long way to go before I can say this blog is typo-free. This year, I intend to keep improving spelling, grammar and syntax in my text and to carry on striving to honour my work best by minimising distractions and devoting adequate time to attention to becoming a better writer.
Happy New Year.
