Demi Perera previews London Bridge City’s Open Air Theatre.
London’s Open Air Theatre season is set to return to the heart of the capital this August. Now in its 15th unforgettable year it will offer Londoners free access to the city’s finest theatrical artists and experiences. Performances will run from August to September as part of the Summer by the River Festival which takes place at London Bridge City.
Every Wednesday to Sunday from 8th August to 2nd September audiences will be treated to special performances. With 1000 seats available each night there will be plenty of chances to catch a show. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis so pre-registration is not necessary. Simply turn up and enjoy the evening. Accompanying the main theatre will be a diverse programme of community activities, workshops, concerts and talks.
Performances
This year the festival hosts performances of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and King Arthur. The production of King Arthur is based on Sir Thomas Malory’s telling of the famous legend and adapted and directed by Phil Willmott. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an adaptation by Phil Willmott and directed by Justin Murray and Phil Willmott.
Dates and Times
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will be performed weekly on Wednesdays to Saturdays at 6pm and at 4pm on Sundays. There will also be a special parents and babies performance at 2pm on 26th August. King Arthur will be performed at 7.30pm Wednesdays to Saturdays and at 5.30pm on Sundays.
