Newly opened OSH Restaurant in Knightsbridge presents a cosmopolitan take on Uzbek tastes.
Gosh! The food at OSH was delish. I savoured my recent culinary journey along the restaurant’s Silk Road themed menu (with a few major detours of worldly and mostly oceanic nature).
From a basket of bread served straight from a clay oven with tarragon butter (£3.50) to commence my meal to a scoop of yellow plum sorbet (£3.50) for my palate cleansing afters, every dish I tried during my dinner was beautifully presented, balanced and flavoursome. Best bites by far were the lamb manti (minced lamb dumplings with a spicy sauce, £6.50 for three) and the surmi roll (rabbit wrapped in cabbage with truffles, £11 for three). Not so Central Asian inspired but nonetheless delicious small plates of tuna tartare with aubergine hummus and black caviar (£12) and warm aubergine with soft cheese and coriander dressing (£8) also delighted.
As for drinks, the cocktail list was an intriguing read, and I had trouble deciding between a few interesting mixes. With some help from the sommelier I found pleasure in selecting the Pop-In (Martini Ambrato Vermouth, Montenegro, clementine and corn shrub and tonic, £11). A glass of house red (El Mago Terra Alto 2016, an organic Grenache from Catalunya) paired well with all the savouries. A pot of fresh mint tea ended my meal on a clean and pleasant note.
OSH’s main dining area with its open kitchen (charcoal grill front and centre and clay oven prominently placed) and skylight was a lovely setting to enjoy such a hearty meal. Service was friendly and fast. I thought prices were exceptionally reasonable considering the postcode, luxury sports cars lining the street and proximity to Harrods.
